How to consult the wind loads and snow loads generated in Portal frame generator

Generating wind loads and snow loads based on the Eurocode or ASCE 7 standard involves a certain complexity, especially in the case of wind loads, as a map of real wind zones in the different parts of the building must be considered for each wind load case and orientation.

First of all, the necessary information must be correctly configured in the "General data" of the job:

From Portal frame generator, you can view the loads generated by the program, one portal frame at a time, by accessing "General data" > "Dimension, purlin and load view options":

The values are given in kN/ml on the selected portal frame when working with the International System of Units. These loads correspond to the result of the surface loads applied to the envelope of the project.

The "Print the current view" button can then be used to add it to the report generated in "File" > "Project reports".

If you also wish to view and obtain details of the surface loads used, this can be carried out from CYPE 3D after exporting the job. To do this, configure the load you wish to view in CYPE 3D in "Load" > "Load view", select the load case and then go to "Load" > "Edit surface loads" or "Load" > "Edit loads on panels", depending on the case.

This interface will allow you to consult the different values of the applied snow and wind loads in kN/m² for a loadcase. To be able to see all the façades and the roof on screen, you must create the necessary 2D work windows using "Window" > "Open new".

For example, for the right roof slope:

Just as in Portal frame generator, you can use the "Print the current view" option to add this view of the loads to a project document.
