Users may see the following warning in Open BIM Analytical Model:
No analytical surface has been defined for an element of the physical model.
This warning appears when the element of the physical model specified in the error (a wall, a floor slab, etc.) is not associated with an analytical surface.
If it is the first time the model has been opened in Open BIM Analytical Model, you will find this warning for all the elements of the physical model, as no analytical surfaces exist yet. So, first of all, clicking on the "Analytical Model" option in the top toolbar will generate the analytical model. This way, the analytical surfaces associated with the elements of the physical model will be generated and any warnings for them will disappear.
If these warnings appear after generating the analytical model, users should review the geometry entered in the architectural modeller and carry out the export and import again. To do so, the following should be considered:
- If the architectural model has been taken from CYPE Architecture, the geometry from CYPE Architecture should be revised according to these modelling recommendations.
- If the architectural model has been taken from other technologies, the IFC file that has been generated with them must comply with the following requirements. If it has been taken from Revit, please consider the recommendations mentioned in the CYPE-Revit Interoperability Guide.
With the aim of making interoperability easier, it is generally recommended to use more simplified models, avoiding complex geometries wherever possible, so as to avoid complex geometries that may impair the readability of the data.
Finally, it should be noted that CYPE offers another free modeller as an alternative, IFC Builder, which works in a different way and can be adapted to the needs of exporting to simulation tools such as the CYPETHERM programs. Exporting IFC Builder to these tools is direct and does not require the use of Open BIM Analytical Model.
