Users may see the following "General error" when opening jobs in CYPE programs, for both new jobs or example jobs, in the process called "Preparing the work environment":
A serious error has occurred. It is impossible to continue running the program. Click Accept, make a note of the error in the Details>> window and contact CYPE Ingenieros technical support.
Once the message has been accepted, the application may close without displaying any further information.
Newer CYPE programs (e.g. CYPE Architecture) use Open GL 3.3, so both the computer’s operating system and graphics card must be fully compatible with Open GL 3.3. If this is not the case, the error will appear. To solve the problem, follow these recommendations:
1. First of all, Windows should be fully updated and the latest driver for the graphics card should be installed.
2. On computers with multiple graphics cards (one of which may be integrated), switch graphics cards, using any other graphics cards available (especially those marked as "high performance" cards) for CYPE programs. Once they have been switched, all running programs should be closed and then reopened so that they run with the high-performance GPU.
This procedure may vary depending on the card and computer being used.
Below is the general procedure for graphics settings in Windows:
- Type "Settings" in the Windows browser and then go to "System", "Display", "Graphics settings".
- Under "Graphics Performance Preferences", in the "Choose an app to set preference" section, select "Desktop app" and click on "Browse". Browse for the CYPE program executable (e.g. C:\CYPE Ingenieros\Version 2023\CYPE Architecture\CYPE Architecture.exe).
- Click on "Options". In the "Graphics specifications" window, select the "High performance" GPU.
3. Some graphics cards may not support Open GL 3.3. For these cases, the use of another computer with full Open GL 3.3 compatibility or a physical change of card is recommended.
4. However, by typing "dxdiag" into the Windows browser the command of the same name can be run to obtain information about the computer. Click on the "Save information" option that appears and send the generated report to soporte@cype.com for further clarification.
